OBSERVABLE LEARNING CO.
Building Clarity. Strengthening Practice.
Partnering with schools and school systems to strengthen the professional capacity of educators and leaders through instructional clarity, collaborative learning, and intentional improvement.
Every student deserves access to high-quality learning experiences, regardless of the classroom they enter.
Strengthening the professional capacity of educators and leaders is the most sustainable way to make that goal a reality.
SCHOOLS ARE INVESTING
IN IMPROVEMENT
Schools and school systems invest significant time, expertise, and resources into improving teaching and learning. School improvement plans establish priorities for growth, while professional learning, instructional coaching, and collaborative inquiry help educators and leaders build the professional capacity needed to achieve those priorities.
Despite these efforts, meaningful and sustainable improvement can remain difficult to achieve. Observable Learning Co. believes the challenge is rarely a lack of commitment. More often, it is the absence of a coherent approach to strengthening the professional capacity of educators and leaders over time.
When schools intentionally strengthen professional capacity, instructional clarity deepens, professional judgment grows, and educators and leaders make increasingly informed instructional decisions that improve teaching and learning.
That is where sustainable improvement begins.
Honouring Experience.
Supporting Growth.
Educators and instructional leaders bring a wealth of professional knowledge, experience, and judgment to their work. Every day, they make countless decisions that shape teaching and learning in response to the diverse strengths, needs, interests, and experiences of the students they serve.
At Observable Learning Co., every partnership begins with respect for the expertise that already exists within a school or school system. Our role is not to replace that expertise, but to strengthen the professional capacity that already exists. Through thoughtful facilitation and the co-construction of shared understanding, educators and instructional leaders strengthen professional knowledge, refine instructional expertise, deepen professional judgment, and continue improving teaching and learning in ways that respond to the needs of each student.
Building Sustainable
Improvement
Schools invest in many worthwhile initiatives and professional learning opportunities. Sustainable improvement is not the result of any single initiative or professional learning experience. It grows when schools intentionally build coherence through instructional clarity, collaborative learning, and intentional improvement over time.
Meaningful improvement is built through a coherent and sustained approach to teaching, learning, and leadership. Observable Learning Co. partners with schools and school systems to strengthen the professional capacity of educators and leaders through three interconnected pathways that create coherence across professional learning, instructional practice, and leadership over time.
-
Instructional clarity is the shared understanding that enables educators and leaders to make informed decisions about the learning students are expected to experience, the instructional practices that best support that learning, and the ongoing educator learning that builds the knowledge, skills, and collective capacity needed to strengthen practice over time.
-
Collaborative learning creates professional cultures where educators and leaders learn with and from one another through purposeful dialogue, coaching, shared inquiry, and the co-construction of shared understanding that strengthens professional capacity over time.
-
Intentional improvement is the ongoing process of purposefully strengthening professional capacity through collaborative learning, increasingly informed instructional decisions, and the continual refinement of professional practice over time.
Together, these three pathways strengthen the professional capacity of educators and leaders by creating coherence across planning, educator learning, instructional practice, and leadership. This coherence enables schools and school systems to continually strengthen teaching and learning in meaningful and sustainable ways.

Why I Started Observable Learning Co.
After more than three decades in public education, I have had the privilege of working alongside students, educators, instructional leaders, and system leaders in a variety of roles. From the classroom to system leadership, I came to appreciate both the complexity of educational improvement and the deep commitment educators and leaders bring to this work every day.
Throughout my career, I came to recognize a common opportunity. Every school is filled with knowledgeable, committed educators and leaders who want the very best for their students. Yet, in increasingly complex educational environments, sustaining meaningful improvement requires more than introducing new initiatives. It requires intentionally strengthening the professional capacity of educators and leaders over time.
I founded Observable Learning Co. to continue partnering with schools and school systems in this work. Together, we strengthen the professional capacity of educators and leaders by building instructional clarity, designing educator learning, leading educator learning, and creating coherent approaches to teaching, learning, and leadership that can be sustained over time.
I believe that continually strengthening the professional capacity of educators and leaders is the most sustainable way to improve teaching and learning—and the most powerful way to ensure every student experiences the high-quality learning they deserve.
Meet Ingrid
With more than 32 years in public education, I have dedicated my career to supporting students, educators, school leaders, and school systems in strengthening teaching and learning.
Throughout my career, I have served as a middle and senior years classroom teacher, teacher-librarian, staff development specialist, continuous improvement coach, and divisional administrator of continuous improvement. Each role has provided a unique perspective on the opportunities and challenges educators and leaders face every day and has reinforced my belief that meaningful school improvement begins by intentionally strengthening the professional capacity of the people who make it possible.
Whether working with a classroom teacher, an instructional leadership team, or system leaders, my goal has always been the same: to strengthen the professional capacity of educators and leaders by building instructional clarity, supporting collaborative learning, and helping schools create coherent approaches to teaching, learning, and leadership.
I believe the most meaningful improvement begins with listening, understanding the unique context of each school, respecting the expertise that already exists, and partnering with educators and leaders to intentionally strengthen professional capacity over time. My approach is practical, collaborative, and grounded in the realities of today's classrooms because sustainable improvement is built with schools—not for them.
It is a privilege to continue this work through Observable Learning Co., partnering with schools and school systems that are committed to strengthening the professional capacity of educators and leaders so every student experiences high-quality learning.
